The Oatley family have been longstanding supporters of sailing in Australia, most visibly in the past through their renowned 100-foot Supermaxi yacht Wild Oats XI. Wild Oats XI won race regattas around the world and is the most successful yacht in the history of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, which it won line-honours nine times. 

In 2025 Wild Oats XI began a new chapter as Palm Beach XI, helmed by its skipper of more than two decades, Mark Richards, and owned by Palm Beach Motor Yachts which ‘Ricko’ founded and is CEO. 

The Oatley family’s commitment to sailing continues with their 66-foot Wild Oats X and ongoing patronage of the Australian Sailing learning and performance pathways.  The Oatley family are also passionate sailing supporters through Hamilton Island and sponsors of the SOLAS Trust.
